Show Production
"Yours, Shanty" - Multimedia Director
For Republic Polytechnics Reflections Arts Festival 2025, I was given the opportunity to be the Multimedia Director for the festivals music variety show, Yours Shanty. The shows concept was a journey through Singapore's musical decades, capturing the emotion and ambition of the people through each era. The show consisted of 3 acts, the 60's/70's, 80's/90's and 2000's to present.
To sell the concept, the show would utilize multimedia and the Theatres LED screen to tell the story the music couldn't. As the multimedia director, I led a team of 5 to conceptualize, design and create videos, visuals and media. After months of research, meetings and designing, the end product was spectacular and transformed the show from a typical music variety show to an immersive and informative musical journey.
This project spanned 7 months, starting in April and ending in October. The show would sell over 800 tickets.
Pre Act Media
For the show, each act would prelude with a narrative video painting the land and soundscape of the different eras of Singapore. The videos told the story and ambitions of Singapore and its people and how it was reflected in our local music. The pre act media were the focal point of the show in making it a musical journey instead of a variety showcase through its historical narrative and immersion.
Complimentary Media
Aside from Pre Show Media, complimentary media would play behind the bands to match the historical aesthetic and energy of that specific era. In designing the media for this, much research was done to do justice to the era and really sell the immersion of the show as a musical journey.
Show Visuals
To increase the shows aesthetic quality, visuals and media would play behind the performers to compliment the energy on stage. Each song would have specifically tailored visuals to match the band.
"Her." - Show Director
For Replug's (Acoustic Band) internal showcase I was given the opportunity to be the shows director. The shows theme, Her, was an introspective into women in our society and a dive into understanding women's plights, ambitions and aspiration.
With such a mature topic, directing this show required much empathy and sensitivity. I worked closely with everyone involved in the show from the creative team to the performers to really encapsulate the idea of "Her" into the show.
As show director I oversaw all the creative and technical developments of the show. I ensured the items in the show were of quality and aligned with the shows artistic vision. Apart from directing I also designed the multimedia for the show to help drive the narrative of the show we wanted to deliver
This project spanned 4 months and had an audience count of 120.
