Backstage Work
Baybeats U26 Insider Experience - Production Shadow
For Baybeats 2025, Esplanade collaborated with Republic Polytechnic to organize an insider experience for selected students to get an in-depth look at how a festival is designed, managed and produced at Esplanade
I was one of the lucky students selected to participate as a production shadow. My experience was production based and shadowed an Esplanade Production Coordinator to see the inner workings of a music festival. I got to see how the different stages operated and the equipment used at each video. There was also talks at each stages where production members shared with us the life of working in production.
After the experience, we got to meet with a local band, Motifs, where they shared with us how they work as a band in Singapore's landscape. After which we got to experience the festival and watch various bands.
Jam & Hop 25' - Stage Crew
As part of Republic Polytechnics orientation programme, Jam & Hop is a performing art variety show that highlights the vibrant and excellent art scene in Republic Polytechnic
For Jam & Hop 2025, I took up being a stage crew to assist in the production of the show. As a stage crew I carried out several stage duties such as rigging the equipment, marking the stage and assisting performers in the show.
Through this production I gained valuable skills and techniques on how to operate a theatre show from the backend.
This production lasted 2 months, starting in February and ending in April
EMFF - Audio Crew
An Evening of Music, Fun and Friends (EMFF) is the music variety show for Republic Polytechnics Arts Festival, Reflections Arts Festival 2024.
For EMFF, I undertook a role as an audio crew for the production. As stage crew I handled and operated backline equipment for instruments and their amplifiers while also managing the wireless accessories for vocalist such as their microphones. Aside from handling equipment and hardware, I was also the cue caller for the performers.
Through this production I gained valuable technical skills in operating audio equipment and hardware.
This project lasted one month, starting and ending in October 2025
RAF Launch! - Artist Liason Officer
Along with EMFF, RAF Launch! was the opening performance of Republic Polytechnic's Reflection Arts Festival 2024 and consisted of both dance and music items with a huge number of combined performers.
For RAF Launch!, I was an Artist Liason Officer (ALO) and was tasked with managing the music cluster of performers, making sure they were present at rehearsals and ensured they were accounted for.
Through this production I picked up on management skills and valuable communicative skills. This show was also the first production I worked on and sparked my interest and passion in production works.
This project lasted a month, starting and ending in September 2024
